Liverpool saved from defeat by Aston Villa thanks to Firmino’s goal at the end of the match

Klopp’s side maintain chances for Champions League qualification

Liverpool tied with Aston Villa in the home match of the 37th round English Premier League – 1:1.

The guests got a great opportunity to take the lead in the 22nd minute, but Ollie Watkins missed the penalty. Five minutes later, Aston Villa still took the lead thanks to a Jacob Ramsey goal.

After the break, Liverpool bounced back, however Cody Gakpo’s goal was canceled after watching VAR. Jurgen Klopp’s team got away from defeat at the end of the meeting thanks to the efforts of Roberto Firmino.

Liverpool have ended their seven-match winning streak but still have a chance of qualifying for the Champions League. Klopp’s side are fifth in the Premier League, three points behind Manchester United. Aston Villa are in seventh position.

In the final round on May 28, Liverpool will play with Southampton, Aston Villa – with Brighton.
