‘Leshchuk has the right to express his opinion’ – Gafin on ex-Dynamo coach Jokanovic’s goalkeeper criticism

Dynamo goalkeeper Igor Leshchuk has the right to express his opinion about the coach he didn’t have a relationship with, but it’s more productive to focus on the upcoming matches, says Dmitry Gafin, member of the board of directors of the Moscow club, to Match. TV.

Dynamo announced the termination of the contract with head coach Slavisa Jokanovic on May 19. A day later, in the WORLD RPL Round 28 game with Torpedo (3:0), Pavel Alpatov led the team in the status of interim head coach. After Saturday’s game, Leshchuk said that the Serbian specialist did not say goodbye to the players properly, but simply wrote in a chat, with him the team played “boring and incomprehensible football”, and “in a week (under Alpatov) they explained everything, everyone started to understand better.”

– After the match with Torpedo, Igor Leshchuk spoke highly of the former head coach. In your opinion, was the statement correct because the coach acted disrespectfully towards the team by not saying goodbye, or should the player have spoken about Jokanovic behind his back?

– First of all, I will answer on the fact that the ex-coach said goodbye or not: in my opinion, it is at the discretion of the coach, but, naturally, in the respect of human relations , the head coach is expected to say goodbye to the team he worked with for almost a year. For me, that would be normal. But it’s his decision, I won’t comment on it.

And about the words of Igor, who had no relationship with the coach, I will say that Igor has the right to express his personal opinion. It seems to me that we all need to focus not on memories of the past, but on future games. It will be much more productive.

– In the next matches is the goal to have fun? Is the result irrelevant?

— We are talking about professionals initially motivated to achieve the best sporting results. Obviously, everyone should focus on winning.

– How do you assess the season?

– We have not achieved the objectives, of course, the results of this season are not satisfactory. At the same time, there are positive aspects that should not be forgotten, we see the progress of a number of young players: Saba Sazonov, Yaroslav Gladyshev, Milan Maistorovich, Luka Gagnidze and other young people. This gives reason for optimism, Gafin told .

After 28 rounds, Dynamo is in sixth place with 45 points in the WORLD RPL table.
