Srna: Information about the appointment of van Leeuwen is a provocation to destabilize the team before decisive matches

Pitmen trust current coach Jovićević

Sports Director Miner Dario Srna responded to TaToTake’s information that the Donetsk team could be headed by Zorya’s coach in the summer Patrick van Leeuwen. Horvath noted that the leadership of the Pitmen trusts the current mentor Igor Jovichevich.

“This information did not come about by accident. This is a provocation to destabilize the team before the decisive matches,” Srna said.

“But this cannot be done. We have a head coach Igor Jovičević whom we trust and who has one more year of contract. Therefore, we do not pay attention, we are confident in our abilities and together we move on to future victories.

Jovićević took over Shakhtar in the summer of 2022. Under the leadership of the Croatian, the Pitmen lead the UPL, ahead of SC Dnipro-1 by two points with three matches before the end of the championship.

Van Leeuwen worked at the Shakhtar Academy from 2006 to 2013. The Dutchman became the head coach of Zorya before the start of the 2022/23 season. The Luhansk team is in the third position in the UPL, five points behind Shakhtar.

On May 24, Shakhtar and Zorya will play each other in the 28th round of the Ukrainian Championship. The start is at 17:00.
