Ilya recovered from injury and began to get game practice in the Premier League
Defender Bournemouth Ilya Zabarny commented on the team’s defeat from Manchester United (0:1) in the 37th round of the Premier League. The Ukrainian also spoke about his transition to the English club and recovery from injury.
“We were a little unlucky. We showed a good and strong game, it was difficult because we played against a very good team. Manchester United have very skilled players. In this match, the support of the fans helped us a lot, they were incredible. This is very important for every player on the team. It was a very important game for me, and I felt comfortable on the football field,” Zabarny said.
“Moving to Bournemouth is a completely different level for me. Everything is very fast here: you attack, but in a second you are already defending. You have to be ready every minute. Manchester United attacked a lot, they have a lot of technical and fast players, but it’s good practice when you play against the best players, it helps to progress.”
“Recovery from injury was difficult. I came here with an injury, it was a difficult moment because I wanted to play. I’ve been waiting for my chance, I’ve been practicing and now I’m ready to play. Thanks to the coach for the trust, I will try to show my best football. Bournemouth is a very good team, not only the players, but also the staff, the medical service. The doctors helped me a lot during my recovery, I am grateful to them.”
“This meeting was important in the context of next season. We must improve our game, this is very important. In June, I want to help my national team, I want to see the guys already and be ready for these matches.”
Zabarny left Dynamo in January and signed a contract with Cherries until 2028. The defender has played four games for Bournemouth without scoring.
Bournemouth are 15th in the Premier League and have secured their place in the elite division for the 2023/24 season. Zabarny’s team will play the next match on May 28 against Vitaliy Mikolenko’s Everton.
