Perugia sparked controversy: “We apologize. Dues paid, someone was smarter”

After the arithmetic relegation to Serie C, Perugia published a press release on their official website in which they apologized to their fans and reserved the whip for some rival clubs in the championship, which has just gone to the archive:

“We are sorry!

Final verdict: we moved to Lega Pro and in general this season we did not reach this category, also due to the fact that we created a group. based on a budget that included the payment of social security contributions and a maximum contribution set for December relating to pre-Covid contributions (others did not do this and were smarter than us, contrary to all competent control bodies that should guarantee sports fairness is necessary in order to compete equally).

We are deeply sorry and disappointed, we were going to fix a bad season, but in the end we couldn’t make it to the finish line.

We are especially sorry for our fans who believed in us and always supported us, never missing out on their contribution in every stadium, showing that they are civilians and fans of Serie A.

Now is the time to think and plan for the next sports season. If there is further news, we will be happy to inform the city administration and our fans about it.

Come on, Perugia always!”.
