Real Madrid winger Vinicius subjected to racism
La Liga launched an investigation into the incident with racism in the match of the 35th round of La Liga between Real and Valencia (0:1).
The organization requested all materials from the game. In case of identified violations, La Liga has committed to take appropriate legal action.
“La Liga is actively fighting racist behavior in or out of the stadium. La Liga continues to fight this behavior and promote positive values in sport,” the statement said.
In the middle of the second half, there was a pause in the game for several minutes due to insults against Real Madrid winger Vinicius. And in stoppage time, the Brazilian received a red card for punching an opponent in the face.
The player himself said that “previously, La Liga belonged to Ronaldinho, Ronaldo, Cristiano and Messi, but now it has been swallowed up by racism.” Vinicius also stressed that he will continue to fight racism in Spain.
Real Madrid are in third place in La Liga, one point behind Atlético Madrid. Valencia moved up to 13th position in the standings after beating the Blancos, extending their lead from the relegation zone to five points.
