Former Manchester United captain Rio Ferdinand has called on Spanish La Liga president Javier Tebas to step down after another incident of racist abuse against Real Madrid striker Vinicius Junior.
On Sunday, Vinicius was insulted by supporters in the stands of the Mestalla stadium. The encounter was suspended after the Brazilian urged the referee to pay attention to the behavior of the fans. Later, the 22-year-old said that ‘the championship, which belonged to Ronaldinho, Cristiano and Messi, now belongs to the racists’.
Tebas replied to Vinicius some time later via social media: “Before criticizing and insulting La Liga, it is necessary that you inform yourself properly. Don’t let yourself be manipulated and make sure you understand everyone’s skills well. and the work we do together.”
“Leave now!” Disgusting, embarrassing, so out of touch with reality that I can’t believe this guy is allowed to write his own social media posts,” Ferdinand responded to Tebas’ statement.
