The Ukrainian is sure that his defeat of Haney is undeserved
Former world champion in three weight categories Vasily Lomachenko (17-3, 11 KOs) thanked the fans for their support and summed up the fight with the undisputed world lightweight champion Devin Haney (30-0, 15 KOs).
“Over the past few days, I received a lot of messages with warm words of support addressed to me. Many people write and convince us that we did not lose this duel. We basically agree with you on this. Especially those people who love, appreciate and respect this sport. Those who understand this. Our opinions agree.”
“But we have what we have. In any situation, you need to remain human. So, it was the will of the Almighty. Thank God for everything. See you”.
Lomachenko lost to Haney in the fight for the title of undisputed world lightweight champion. By unanimous decision of the judges, the victory was given to Devin: 116:112, 115:113, 115:113. The sports community spoke out about the unfair decision of the judiciary.
Lomachenko fought his 20th fight in the professional ring and suffered his third defeat in his career. Undefeated Haney won his 30th bout and defended the title of undisputed world lightweight champion.
Lomachenko himself could not hold back his tears after losing to Haney. After the fight, the Ukrainian did not comment on the decisions of the judges, only noting that “everyone saw what happened today.”
