Kvartsyany: It seems that our president or deputies decide who will be the head coach of the national team

The coach believes that Rebrov is not the only candidate for the position of head coach of the national team

Famous Ukrainian coach Vitaly Kvartsyany commented on the situation with the possible appointment of the current Al-Ain coach Sergey Rebrov to the post of head coach of the Ukrainian national team.

“I fully agree with Markevich that they have been waiting for Rebrov for two years already as the messiah. I respect Rebrov, we are on good terms with him, he is an excellent specialist, educated, speaks foreign languages, but there are enough qualified coaches in Ukraine.”

“Yury Vernydub said that he always dreamed of working with the national team, but he knows that this will never happen. Why is it accepted in our country that only Dynamo players should train the national team?! It feels like the president of the country or the deputies decide who will be the head coach of the national team.”

“Petrakov showed how to work with the Ukrainian national team, but he was just unlucky. But Petrakov in our country is a car, there are plenty to choose from. And we have been talking only about Rebrov for two years now. Do you think that if Kvartsyany coached Dynamo, they would play worse? I’m sure they would have played better! But this is not given to me, as well as Vernidubu and Grigorchuk.

Vitaly Kvartsyany is best known for his work with Volyn. He left the post of head coach of the Lutsk team in 2017. Kvartsyany also headed Kryvbas and Zaporozhye Metallurgist. Now the specialist works in the Volyn Football Federation.

Ukraine is fourth in Group C after losing to England. In the next round of qualification for the European Championship 2024, Ukraine will face North Macedonia. The match will take place on June 16. Also in June, the blue-yellows will play with Malta, the match will take place on June 19.

Earlier it was reported that Rebrov agreed on a contract with the Ukrainian national team. The deal is expected to be officially announced soon. There is an option to combine the work of Rebrov in the national team and Al Ain.

The Ukrainian national team does not have an official mentor after the departure of Oleksandr Petrakov. Ruslan Rotan, coach of Alexandria and the Ukrainian youth team, was temporarily appointed acting head coach.
