The second option is the sale of rights to Ukrainian or foreign media holdings
UPL suggested to the representatives of the clubs two options for organizing broadcasts for subsequent seasons of the championship of Ukraine.
The Premier League invites clubs to create their own platform for broadcasting matches. The second option is to sell the rights to Ukrainian and/or foreign media holdings.
It is reported that UPL clubs adhere to the concept of creating a single product, where they will be the owners of the rights. At the same time, the issue of further realization of the rights to broadcast matches is being discussed.
This season, the media partner of the UPL was Setanta Sports. The contract with the Premier League was for 3 years. Five clubs refused to fulfill the terms of the contract – Rukh, Metallist, Dynamo, Zarya and Dnepr-1. Matches of these teams are broadcast on 1+1 Media channels.
However, in April, Setanta Sports announced the termination of the agreement with the UPL. At the same time, the media holding will try to negotiate with the League on broadcasting matches for the next season.
