The fight could take place in Australia
WBC World Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury (33-0-1, 24 KOs) found a new opponent.
Gypsy king negotiates with hitherto invincible Australian Damsey McKean (22-0, 14 KOs). The fight could take place in August in McKean’s hometown, according to the boxer’s manager Angelo di Carlo.
Fury himself has repeatedly stated that he should return to the ring in the summer. Tyson’s representatives have not yet been able to find him an opponent for the next fight.
One of the possible rivals of the Gypsy King was called Joe Joyce, who would become Fury’s opponent if he defeated Zhang Zhilei. According to promoter Bob Arum, Fury’s next opponent could be ex-champion Andy Ruiz, and Zhilei was also considered.
On April 29, Fury was supposed to have a unification fight with WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO world champion Oleksandr Usyk. However, the parties did not reach an agreement and suspended the negotiations. According to manager Egis Klimas, the Gypsy King team demanded too much, no matter how much Usyk compromised.
We also recall that Skill Challenge Entertainment plans to hold a face-to-face fight between Fury and Usyk in the Middle East, as well as a fight between two former world champions – Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder. The total amount of possible fees for boxers is 210 million pounds.
