Former USSR national team goalkeeper and CSKA goalkeeping coach Vyacheslav Chanov believes that the future of Russian goalkeeper Andrey Lunev will depend on his current form.
Earlier, the Leverkusen club’s press service reported that Lunev will leave Bayer at the end of the 2022/23 season. The 31-year-old Russian’s contract is calculated until June 30.
– In Germany, Lunev did not work. He hardly played due to injuries. We can only guess what form he is in now. No one will make a decision based on old baggage. There will surely be requirements to pass a thorough medical examination. There will be questions about the game, because in two years Andrey has played only three matches.
I think a lot will depend on what state Lunev arrives in. And the work of his agent. Probably, now, at the end of the season, there are already requests from the teams. In any case, I would like Andrey to continue playing. I wish him good health,” Chanov told Vprognoze.ru.
Lunev joined the Bayer team in the summer of 2021, in total he played three matches for the team.
