Ireland coach Kenny: Ukraine scored a goal that shouldn’t have happened

The Irish take one point away from Lodz

Ireland head coach Stephen Kenny commented on his team’s draw in yesterday’s League of Nations match against Ukraine (1:1).

For both teams, defender Nathan Collins and forward Artem Dovbik each scored a goal.

“Ukraine is a very good team. I saw how the Ukrainians were preparing. High level. But we leave disappointed because we didn’t get the victory we deserved. We played well, blocked zones, combined. Ukraine scored a goal that shouldn’t have happened. We had moments, we held the game in our hands, so, again, we are going home not very happy with the result, ”said Kenny.

“But despite this, I would like to pay tribute to the Ukrainian team, which, despite the fact that they have a war going on at home, takes first place in our group.”

In the three opening matches of the League of Nations, the team of Alexander Petrakov scored seven points and heads the B1 quartet. Ireland is third.

The Ukrainian team will continue the season in September, when they will play against the Armenian team and twice against the Scottish team.
