American champion won by decision
Famous promoter Eddie Hearn commented on the result of the fight for the title of absolute world champion in lightweight between Devin Haney And Vasily Lomachenko. The manager thinks the fight was very close.
“I didn’t see the full fight, but I followed it on Twitter. I also reviewed the brightest highlights. I don’t like these conversations: “Oh, this is a robbery.” You ask a person what score he got, and he answers: “115-113 in favor of Lomachenko.” So it’s hardly a robbery. That’s your opinion. And it could easily be 115-113 the other way,” Hearn said.
“I think most people feel that Lomachenko won the fight. But sometimes in boxing people make decisions before the fight. They say that Loma was robbed, but the fight seemed very close to me. I think most people felt that 116-112 is too big of a difference. But I guess it’s about what you like.”
Lomachenko lost in a fight against Haney for the title of undisputed world lightweight champion. According to the results of 12 rounds, the judges gave the victory to the American boxer: 116:112, 115:113, 115:113. The sports community spoke out about the unfair decision of the judiciary.
Lomachenko fought his 20th fight in the professional ring and suffered his third defeat in his career. Undefeated Haney won his 30th bout and defended the title of undisputed world lightweight champion.
