Athletistic/Football. Former Russian defender Vitaly Dyakov has spoken about his opinion on RFU FTC’s decision to extend Spartak striker Alexander Sobolev’s disqualification period to four matches in the Russian Premier League. Sobolev was sanctioned for having shown an indecent gesture during a match against CSKA (2-1) in the 28th final of the RPL.

Dyakov believes the FTC made the right decisions: suspending Sobolev for four matches and rescinding Roshi’s red card. He believes that now everything has fallen into place. However, he notes that such a move won’t change CSKA’s situation, as points have already been dropped. He thinks the elimination of Roshi played a decisive role in how the match went, and such a decision ruined everything that was achieved. Dyakov expresses the opinion that the person responsible for VAR should be suspended for life for such a display of irresponsibility.

Dyakov also notes that incidents like Sobolev’s are rare in Russian football. He believes Sobolev needs to work through his mistakes and make decisions with his mind, not his emotions. He stresses that the RPL is not media football.

Regarding the remaining matches in the championship, Dyakov believes that Spartak will cope without Sobolev, since the team has a replacement against Balde. However, he points out that the coach won’t count on Sobolev as the main player in the summer training camp, as he will miss the first two rounds. Dyakov assumes someone else can take advantage of his opportunity and prove himself, in which case Sobolev will be on the bench.
