Inter won again after almost a month, beat Metropolitanos away from home and took the first position of their group in Libertadores
This Thursday, the 25th, Internacional visited Metropolitanos, in Venezuela, for the CONMEBOL Libertadores group stage. Needing the victory to continue in the fight for the classification and to end a fast of almost a month without winning, Colorado built a good result in the first half and managed in the second, to leave with the three points.
Inter started by imposing themselves on the field and since the beginning of the match, they didn’t let Metropolitanos create. Colorado still had an inspired day by Alan Patrick who, in the 13th minute, made a great pass to Pedro Henrique, who was brought down inside the area. The referee then signaled the penalty, which was converted by the number 10.
Exploring the sides of the field, as requested by Mano Menezes, Inter had ample possession of the ball throughout the first half. And it was in the 30th minute, from the feet of Alan Patrick, that the second goal of the team from Rio Grande do Sul came up. The midfielder made a great pass to serve Luiz Adriano, who inside the penalty area landed low to widen. 2-0 at the end of the first half.
In the second stage, the game became more tense right at the beginning because, in the fourth minute, Freddy Vargas scored for the home team. The winger took a rebound after a free kick, adjusted it to his left leg and risked a shot, which had a deflection in the marking, and went to die in the left corner of the goal defended by John.
The Inter goalkeeper was essential to prevent the Venezuelan team from drawing, as at 27 minutes he performed a miracle on a point-blank shot by Gómez. In the final stretch, with nerves on edge, both teams had one expulsion for each side: Sequera for Metropolitanos and Nico Hernández, for Internacional. And in the end, the Colorados got the three points and the victory, which hadn’t come for almost a month.
