Botafogo gets scared, but beats Cesar Vallejo for the Copa Sudamericana

Botafogo built a great result in the first half and got the victory against Cesar Vallejo, however, blackout in the second stage almost cost the group leadership

This Thursday, the 25th, Botafogo visited Cesar Vallejo, in Peru, for the group stage of the Copa Sudamericana. Isolated leader of the Brasileirão, Glorioso entered the field with maximum strength to try to recover in the continental tournament and had a great collective performance to win by 3 to 2 and took the first place in group A.

Botafogo gave Cesar Vallejo a football lesson in the first stage. Luis Castro’s team was far superior to the Peruvian team and opened the scoring in the 21st minute of the game, with a great goal by Victor Sá. Marlon Freitas launched the winger, who dominated in the chest, went through the marking and filled the foot, with no chance for goalkeeper Grados. 1 to 0!

It didn’t take long and Glorioso was already celebrating his second goal in the game: Marçal took a sugary free-kick to the entrance of the small area, where Adryelson went up more than everyone else and tested hard to widen. And the third also came soon after, when Victor Sá started on the left and served Gustavo Sauer inside the area, who finished off the goalkeeper’s foot. 3-0 at the end of the first half.

For the second half, coach Luis Castro made changes to Botafogo’s team, which culminated in a drop in the team’s performance. Thus, in the 20th minute, César Vallejo managed to score with Mena. Vélez took the ball from the right to the middle, crossed to the area, where he found the center forward free to head and counter.

Things got more complicated for Botafogo at 33, when, in his first participation in the game, Noronha received it on the left of the area, threatened to cross and risked a shot that ended up covering goalkeeper Lucas Perri. In addition, César Vallejo still hit the ball on the post and almost ended the black and white party, but in the end the three points ended up with Botafogo, who took the lead in the group.
