Ukraine will play at the European Championship for the third time in its history. In 2011, the blue-and-yellows, led by Pavel Yakovenko, finished last in the group. At the 2006 European Championship, under the leadership of Alexei Mikhailichenko, the youth team reached the final, where they lost to the Netherlands (0:3).

In March, the Ukrainian U-21 team lost to their peers from Italy in a test match (1:3). Earlier, the youth team in the control match minimally defeated Denmark (3:2).
