Friday 26 May 2023 has become a historic day for football in Ecuador . His youth team won a historic triumph at the Under-20 World Cup taking place in Argentina. It was nothing less than a landslide 9-0 against Fiji which allowed him to qualify for the round of 16 of the competition.
The match took place at the Estadio Único Madre de Ciudades, in Santiago del Estero, and the Tri played for the passage to the next stage. Even the most optimistic did not foresee such an absolutely eloquent result.
The first goal of the day was in seven minutes, converted by Kendry Paez, the same that dazzled in the South American Sub 17. In the group stage of this edition, the Nordics crushed the catrachos, with nine goals from a certain Erling Haaland.
