Luton beat Coventry on penalties to advance to the Premier League for the first time

Championship playoff final Luton beat Coventry and promoted to the English Premier League. The meeting took place at Wembley Stadium.

Luton opened the scoring first after Jordan Clarke scored 21 minutes into the game. Coventry bounced back after the break thanks to an accurate strike by Gustavo Hamer. Until the end of the meeting, none of the teams managed to score the winning goal, and extra time also did not reveal the strongest.

Luton were promoted to the English Premier League for the first time in history. The team finished third in the Championship standings. In the semi-finals of the Championship play-offs, Luton were stronger than Sunderland, while Coventry passed Middlesbrough.
