The Eagles are two points ahead of Porto
Benfica became the winner championship of Portugal season 2022/23.
In the final round, the Eagles beat Santa Clara at home – 3:0. Benfica scored Goncalo Ramos, Rafa Silva and Alex Grimaldo, who converted a penalty.
Benfica scored 87 points in 34 rounds of the championship of Portugal. Roger Schmidt’s team were two points ahead of Porto, who failed to defend the league title.
Benfica have become Portuguese champions for the first time since the 2018/19 season and for a record 38th time in history.
It should be noted that together with Benfica, ex-Shakhtar winger David Neres became the champion of Portugal. Last summer, the Brazilian signed a five-year contract with the Eagles.
