FIFA suspends Ivorian goalkeeper for a year and a half for using trimetazidine

The Disciplinary Committee of the International Football Federation (FIFA) suspended for 18 months the goalkeeper of the national team of Côte d’Ivoire Sylvena Gbouo in the doping sample of which the banned substance trimetazidine was found, reports the FIFA press service.

Gbouo tested positive after a World Cup qualifier against Cameroon on November 16, 2021. The disqualification period is counted from when the player is temporarily suspended – from December 23, 2021.

Previously, trimetazidine was also discovered during a doping test of Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva. The investigation against Valieva continues.
