The last participant of the world championship in Qatar was determined
Costa Rica minimally beat New Zealand in a play-off match for access to World Cup 2022. The fight took place on a neutral field in Doha, Qatar.
In the 3rd minute of the meeting, former Arsenal striker Joel Campbell put Costa Rica ahead. The New Zealanders bounced back before half time, but Newcastle’s Chris Wood’s goal was overruled after watching video replay.
In the middle of the second half, New Zealand remained in the minority – striker Costa Barbaruses will receive a direct red card.
Costa Rica brought the meeting to victory and received a ticket to the 2022 World Cup, where they will play in Group E with Spain, Germany and Japan.
The World Championship in Qatar starts on November 21st. The final of the tournament is scheduled for December 18.
