Briggs: I hope Usyk recovers from what’s happening in Ukraine when it’s time to fight

Ex-world champion – about the rematch of Usyk and Joshua

Former World Heavyweight Champion Shannon Briggs shared his thoughts on the second fight Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua. He believes that the Briton can take revenge on the Ukrainian.

“There is a very strong possibility that Joshua will return the titles. Usyk goes through what he goes through, there is a war going on in his country. I hope that Joshua will be in top shape. And I also hope that when the time comes to fight, Usyk will recover from what is happening in his country. But it’s probably the right time for Joshua to jump on Usyk and take him warm. However, Usyk is an incredible champion. He’s hard to beat, he’s a tough guy,” Briggs said.

“Joshua’s collaboration with Robert Garcia? This is a smart move. Garcia is my homie, I know him well. I think they will succeed. Garcia is able to give Joshua a push, but you have to have a mouthful, because this is a war, the fight is not going to be easy.”

The date for the rematch between Usyk and Joshua will be announced in the coming days. The fight is expected to take place on August 13th or 20th in Saudi Arabia.

Usyk defeated Joshua last fall to become the new WBA, WBO, IBF and IBO heavyweight champion.
