Dutch striker Promes accused of cocaine trafficking

This Tuesday, the 30th, Quincy promisesplayer of Spartak Moscow, was accused of cocaine trafficking by the Dutch court. The striker, who has already played for the ajaxwas judged for having stabbed a cousin, in 2022. Dutch Public Prosecutor’s Officehe imported kilos of the drug in 2020.

The 31-year-old striker is accused of having imported, through the port of Antwerp, Belgium, kilos of cocaine in early 2020. It is noteworthy that the player was already suspected of involvement in drug trafficking, in addition to suspicions of participation in a criminal organization. However, this is not Promes’ first run-in with the law.

In another case, the Public Ministry of the Netherlands asked for the arrest of the former player of Ajax and the Dutch national team. The request took place in March, due to a fight involving the attacker’s cousin, who was stabbed by the athlete in 2020. At first, the Dutchman was accused of attempted murder, but the prosecution concluded that they did not have enough evidence.

Quincy Promes played for Ajax in 2019, shortly after the Dutch team had a historic campaign in the Champions League. However, after two seasons, the striker was transferred to Spartak Moscow, the club he currently defends. In fact, the Dutchman is having a great time in Russia, with 25 goals scored and 10 assists in 36 games played.

In 2021, Promes was one of those called up by the Dutch national team for the euro cup. However, since then, he has never been asked to represent his country again. According to the ‘ANP’ news agency, the preliminary hearing on the case will take place on June 5th. The striker will not be able to be present due to contractual obligations with Spartak Moscow.
