Brazilian man accused of failing to pay child support
Court of the Brazilian State of Rio Grande do Sul issued a ruling on the arrest of the former midfielder of the Donetsk Miner Douglas Costa.
The Brazilian was convicted of non-payment of alimony. No arrest warrant will be issued as Costa is currently playing for LA Galaxy in the US. However, if the player arrives at home, Costa will be arrested by any bailiff or police authority.
The Brazilian footballer’s side rejected any comments about a possible arrest. Costa’s lawyer Sergio Queiroz has already said that the player intends to appeal this decision to the Court of Appeal.
Costa played for Shakhtar from 2010 to 2015. Costa has 38 goals and 40 assists in 203 matches for the Donetsk team.
Together with Shakhtar, Douglas became the champion of Ukraine five times and won the Ukrainian Cup three times. In 2015, the Miners sold Douglas to Bayern for 30 million euros. In February 2022, Costa moved to Los Angeles Galaxy.
