Sevilla beat Roma on penalties to win Europa League

Nervions became the winners of the tournament for a record seventh time

Seville beat Roma in the final Europa League. The fight took place in Budapest.

The Wolves opened the scoring in the first half, after a pass from Gianluca Mancini scored by Paulo Dybala. Sevilla managed to rebound in the second half, this time Mancini cut the ball into his own net.

More in the regular time of the meeting, the teams did not score goals. In extra-times, the score on the scoreboard also did not change – 1:1.

The winner of the Europa League was determined in a penalty shootout – 4: 1 in favor of Sevilla. As part of Roma, Mancini and Roger Ibanez made mistakes.

Sevilla have won the Europa League/UEFA Cup for a record seventh time. The Spanish club has previously won the tournament in 2006, 2007, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2020. Note that the Nervionians have never lost in the finals of the Europa League.

Roma were defeated in the Europa League final for the second time in history. In 1991 Wolves lost to Inter (0:2, 1:0).

José Mourinho’s team failed to win the European trophy for the second season in a row. In 2022, Roma became the winner of the Conference League.
