The legendary former player of the national team of Slovakia and the Italian Napoli has hung up his boots.
Marek Hamsik will no longer play professional football. Former midfielder of the Slovakian national team and Naples announced his retirement.
The 35-year-old football player told fans about the decision on his Instagram page. The player wrote a post in which he summarized his career.
“It’s been an incredible 19 years of professional career. More than 700 matches at club level, about 140 caps for Slovakia. So many goals scored.
As a small child, I only dreamed that one day I would have a successful football career at the highest level. Football is my love, passion and work where I always give my all. I am grateful to all the clubs where I have worked.
Special thanks to my family and close friends who have been a part of this and have always been by my side and supported me. And, of course, a big thank you to my fans who encourage and love me. I always appreciate it so much, you deserve my great respect. Thanks for everything,” Gamshik wrote.

Hamshik’s last club was Turkish Trabzonspor, where the Slovak won the national championship. Before that, the footballer spent many years in Naples, where he won two Cups and an Italian Super Cup. In addition, in Slovakia he was recognized eight times as the player of the year.
Remember that it used to be known Naples will be left without a head coach after winning gold in the championship.
