The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced this Monday, 05, a friendly match between Brazil with the Spain to promote the fight against racism. The Brazilian and Spanish entities closed the agreement for the meeting in March 2024, in the European country, in a game that “reinforces the commitment of both entities against racism and violence in football”.
“The fight against racism and violence in football must be a universal banner. At CBF, we work tirelessly to fight all types of discrimination, inside and outside the camps. This action, in partnership with my friend Luis Rubiales, president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, will be important to further reinforce the need to fight racism vehemently, in every corner of the planet”, said Ednaldo Rodrigues, president of the CBF, in a statement published by the entity that governs Brazilian football.
After the recent episodes of racism against the Brazilian vinicius juniorReal Madrid striker, president Luis Rubiales spearheaded the campaign “Racista, fuera del fútbol” in Spanish competitions.
Rubiales met with Orlando Leite, Brazil’s ambassador to Spain, at Ciudad del Fútbol, in Las Rozas, and has maintained contact with Ednaldo. The two presidents of the entities found the opportunity to promote a friendly with the campaign against violence in football.
Brazil and Spain have faced each other on nine occasions. The last meeting took place in the 2013 Confederations Cup, in the victory of the South American team by 3 to 0. There are five victories for Canarinho, two draws and two victories for the Spaniards.
