Tuesday the 6th was not the best for Santos, Botafogo and Fortaleza at Copa Sudamericana. The three entered the field and failed to win. While Peixe and Leão de Pici were defeated, Glorioso was in a 0-0 draw. The only Brazilian to have achieved a victory was America-MGwho was not intimidated by the millionaires and applied a 2 to 0.
Of the Brazilians, the first to enter the field was Fortaleza. The team faced Estudiantes, from Venezuela, but was defeated by 1 to 0. Silvio Romero missed a penalty and saw the rivals improve and achieve victory with a goal by Zorrilla. Even so, Leão de Pici remained at the top of group H with 12 points. The team was undefeated until then.
Afterwards, it was América-MG’s turn to receive Millonarios and achieve a fundamental victory to try to qualify in the last round. Aloísio and Breno scored for Coelho, who reached seven points and was just three behind the Colombians. To continue in the competition, the team will need to beat Peñarol in Uruguay and hope for a defeat for the Millos to dream of a place in the knockout stage.
Later, Santos was another Brazilian that disappointed in the round of the South American. Newell’s Old Boys went to Vila Belmiro and won 2-1 with goals from Sforza and Portillo. Marcos Leonardo reduced to Peixe. Thus, with only four points, Odair Hellmann’s team will need to hope for a stumbling block by Audax Italiano to reach the last round with chances of qualifying.
The last Brazilian to enter the field for the Sul-Americana last Tuesday, the 6th, was Botafogo. The team visited LDU, in Quito, but was disappointed and ended up with a 0-0 tie. Even so, the Brazilians practically guaranteed a place at least in the competition’s playoffs. With nine points, Glorioso is the leader and has the same score as the Ecuadorian opponents.
