Former Russian national team midfielder Yevgeny Aldonin said he does not condemn football players for changing their sporting citizenship.
– I don’t know if the change of sports citizenship in Russian football will become some kind of trend. Still, there are not so many important players for the Russian team who have two passports. And everyone who has already made a decision, including Samara’s “Wings of the Soviets” midfielder Alexander Zuev, who will play for Kazakhstan, does not depend on our team in any way.
It is also important to understand that every footballer has a career. And not everyone has the chance to play for the national team. Therefore, I will in no way condemn those who decided to play for another country, having been brought up in Russia,” Aldonin told RT.
Earlier, “Wings of Soviets” midfielder Alexander Zuev announced that he had received citizenship of Kazakhstan. The football player was born in the Kazakh city of Kostanay, where he played football in the Tobol system. In 2005, the Zuev family moved to Chelyabinsk, Russia.
