“I’ll be honest: we didn’t cheat. It was a necessity. That year, in the spring, they played at Central Stadium and beat Rubin for the Cup, and three or four days later they hosted KAMAZ. Our arena is a unique building, an architectural monument, but the area has not changed for 20 years! And then we didn’t beat the Chelny players just because the ball was crushed – it just became impossible to play combination football on this pitch.
We have a club philosophy which involves combinatorial football. We asked the guys what they thought, where is better to play. And we came to the conclusion that a team can show their brand football on a flat pitch, and we have it in the arena, but not in the central stadium.
We are in favor of natural ground, but we need a similar ground for training, but the club does not have such conditions. We also practiced on the Central and played on it. In Siberia, given the weather conditions, it is unfortunately problematic to have two quality natural terrains.
I want to thank the government of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, which allocated funds to replace the lawn. The stadium does not belong to the club, but the construction of the artificial pitch is also beneficial for the administration of the arena, now you can play football there at any time of the year.
– Under Mutko there was just an attempt to build arenas for all RPL clubs. And now they are being reprimanded for playing inside. How?
– These are stereotypes that are difficult to play in the arena. The Krasnoyarsk Manege is magnificent, probably one of the best in Russia, where footballers train and play all year round. When I was a coach at a children’s sports school, we trained in the gymnasium in the winter and in the spring we went to the big pitch, which involves restructuring the whole process of training and playing. Futsal and big football are two different sports. And young athletes needed time to adapt – a month and a half.
By the way, the day of the match with Fakel, it was +32 away, +20 in the arena. Did you feel comfortable?
– A little stuffy, but tolerable.
“But it was even hotter outside. You have to take care of the players, the spectators. This is the main asset of any club.
The arena has an excellent entertainment program, people are protected from the weather, they watch the match comfortably. And no one is cold in winter! I remember my playing career, when in a big minus your legs are already freezing during warm-up. In the arena it is simply impossible,” Ivakhov told .
