The blue-yellows will play the first match under the new coach in Germany on June 12
Defender Ukrainian national team Vitaliy Mykolenko spoke about the first training session of the team under the guidance of a new mentor Sergei Rebrov.
“Impressions are positive, as usual. Every moment, every minute I enjoy being in the national team. New coach, new rules, new tactics. We try to understand them from the first minutes.
“The national team is the national team, and the club is the club. It doesn’t matter what successes or troubles in the club. I come here and enjoy every moment.
I used to work a little with Sergei Stanislavovich at Dynamo, so it would be nice to do it again. I am happy that we have such a coaching staff that understands how we should play and tells us about it.
We are preparing for the Euro 2024 qualifying matches and I would like to thank the German national team for inviting us to their 1000th match in history. This will be our first game at the current training camp, and it will be very important to follow all the instructions of the coaching staff.”
“The main thing now is to represent your country on the sports front. As the head coach said, you need to show spirit, passion in every match, because this is the Ukrainian team. All the guys are well aware that this is a team. No one comes here without passion.”
Ukraine will play a friendly match with Germany in Bremen. The match will take place at the Weserstadion on June 12. The beginning is at 19:00 Kyiv time.
For the German national team, the match with Ukraine will be an anniversary, 1000th in history. The profits from the match will go to the German Football Association, which helps people affected by Russian military aggression.
Friendly match against the Bundesteam will be the debut for Sergei Rebrov at the head of the national team of Ukraine. After the match against Germany, the Blue-Yellows will play two Euro 2024 qualifiers – with North Macedonia (June 16) and Malta (June 19).
