In the coming days, the next opponent of the “Gypsy King” will be determined
Famous promoter Bob Arum spoke about potential rivals for the WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury. According to the manager, the next opponent of the British will be known next week.
“There is a whole list of potential rivals. You need to look at the list of applicants according to the versions of different organizations and choose one. There’s this guy who beat Tony Yoka [Мартин Баколе или Карлос Такам]. This is a good opportunity. There is Agit Kabayel. He would be a good opponent,” Arum said.
“There are many good opponents, but this question is up to Frank and George Warren along with Tyson. I think they will do it early next week.”
The WBC plans to nominate a mandatory challenger for Fury’s title by the end of the week. At the same time, WBC President Mauricio Suleiman stated that the possible rivals of the Gypsy King did not want to enter the ring against Tyson due to financial aspects.
Earlier, Tyson sent ex-world champion Anthony Joshua a draft contract for a duel at Wembley. However, AJ decided not to take the fight with Fury. The Gypsy King was also in talks with undefeated Australian Damsey McKean (22-0, 14 KOs) and IBF cruiserweight champion Jai Opetaya.
Fury defeated Derek Chisora by TKO in his last fight. The Briton planned to hold a unification fight with Oleksandr Usyk, but the Ukrainian pulled out of the negotiations due to contract disagreements.
