The Norwegian has scored 12 goals this season
Forward Manchester City Erling Holland became top scorer in the 2022/23 Champions League.
The Norwegian practically guaranteed himself the title in the previous rounds of the tournament, scoring 12 goals. Inter top scorer Edin Dzeko had only theoretical chances to beat Erling in the final (4 goals).
Haaland’s closest competitor was Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah (8 goals). The top five scorers included Vinicius Junior (Real Madrid, 7 goals), Kylian Mbappe (PSG, 7) and Joao Mario (Benfica, 6).
Holland scored five goals against Leipzig (7:0) this season. Before that, forward Lionel Messi managed to score the same number of goals in one match against Bayer Leverkusen in March 2012, and Shakhtar forward Luis Adriano against BATE Borisov in October 2014.
Manchester City beat Inter in the final to win the Champions League for the first time in their history. In addition to winning the European Cup, Pep Guardiola’s team won the English championship and the FA Cup, thus completing the treble.
