Munguia: It was a great victory, it took a lot of effort to beat Derevyanchenko

The Mexican managed to knock down the Ukrainian boxer at the end of the fight

Winner of the WBC Silver belt in the second middleweight category Jaime Munguia (42-0, 33 KOs) commented on the victory over the Ukrainian Sergey Derevyanchenko (14-5, 10 KOs).

“I am very happy with the fight. It was a great victory, we made some mistakes, but we remain undefeated.

I am very happy with the decision and it actually took me a lot of effort to achieve it. It was difficult, but I was able to catch and hurt him in the 10th round, and then knock him down in the 12th round.”

“I think in the end we won because of my preparation. We trained very hard in the gym. It’s obviously a different situation in the ring, but we’re always working hard, always trying to improve.”

The fight took place in the Californian city of Ontario at the Toyota Arena. According to the results of 12 rounds, all three judges gave the victory to the Mexican – 115:112, 114:113, 114:113.

Derevyanchenko suffered his fifth defeat, and the fourth in the last five fights. Munguia remains undefeated.
