Rebrov: I want to thank Germany, one of the countries that helped Ukraine the most during the war

Tomorrow, the blue-yellows will play the first match under the guidance of a new coach

Head coach Ukrainian national team Sergey Rebrov commented on the upcoming friendly match against Germany. The mentor noted the importance of preparing for official games.

“Firstly, it is very important to prepare for official fights. For Ukraine, in any game there is a question about the result. But we don’t have much time, so we will consider this game as a preparation for official matches.”

“I want to thank Germany, one of the countries that helped Ukraine the most during the war. It is a great honor for us to be here and hold the anniversary match. Football gives people in our country emotions that we have somewhat lost, contemplating the news that takes place in the war. I told the players that we have to give emotions to our people, to support them, we have to show our character on the field. This game is not official, but it is very important to show our character. It is also important to show that we are here, that Ukraine lives and plays football.”

“We all believe that we can qualify for the European Championship. We have a very heavy group, we have already started performing in it. Again, it is important that we represent Ukraine in Europe. It is very important to concentrate on every match, try to take points in every game, move step by step.”

“I agree, this is a different job. But this is work for the Ukrainian national team. Any specialist in Ukraine would not refuse it. I am proud to work in Ukraine. I will do everything in my power. Yes, I worked in the UAE, I think those were successful years. I wanted to return to Ukraine. I worked abroad for six years, of course, it was interesting. In any case, my heart is with Ukraine, so during this period I decided to return and work in the national team, ”said Rebrov.

Ukraine will play Germany in Bremen at the Weserstadion stadium on June 12. The beginning is at 19:00 Kyiv time. The fight will be broadcast by MEGOGO and Suspіlne.

After the match against Germany, the Blue-Yellows will play two Euro 2024 qualifiers – with North Macedonia (June 16) and Malta (June 19).

For the German national team, the match with Ukraine will be an anniversary, 1000th in history. The profits from the match will go to the German Football Association, which helps people affected by Russian military aggression.
