Zenit head coach Sergei Semak’s Brazilian assistant William Oliveira has told how PSG tried to fraudulently obtain striker Malcolm.
Earlier, media reported that PSG wanted to arrange Malcolm’s transfer for free in winter via FIFA’s rule on Legionnaires being able to unilaterally suspend contracts with Russian clubs. However, this summer, Zenit introduced a clause in the Brazilian’s contract, according to which he cannot become a free agent at will. As a result, the Saint Petersburg club was able to claim 30 million euros from the Parisians for the Brazilian’s transfer, which PSG refused.
Is Malcolm’s transfer to PSG realistic this summer?
– In summer? I don’t know. What was winter, it really was. PSG wanted to outwit everyone, but Malcolm did a good job and didn’t go there. They said to him: “Listen, we have agreed on everything, let’s fly away. Here is a plane for you, we will agree on everything here. It’s good that his agent, who is very experienced, says to him: “Are you crazy? How is that possible?” Besides, PSG didn’t even contact him. The agent told them that if they wanted something, they should turn to Alexander Medvedev. Basically, I I’m going slowly. We were close. It’s clear that it was PSG, Messi, Neymar and Mbappé who played there, but there was nothing. Now it’s calm too.
– Can Malcolm go to a top European club?
– I think it’s real. He scored 23 goals in Russia during the season, was called up to the Brazilian national team… He was a man who played in Barcelona. He is quite young and a good football player. But I don’t know how much he wants it,” Oliveira said in an interview with YouTube channel SBG Show.
Last season, 26-year-old Malcolm made 33 appearances for Zenit in all competitions, scoring 26 goals and providing 9 assists. The Brazilian has been recognized as the best player of the season in the RPL.
