Fans “Manchester City” recognized Norwegian striker Erling Holland the team’s best player of the 2022/23 season, according to the Citizens website.
Haaland beat midfielder Kevin De Bruyne and defender Nathan Ake for the player of the season award. In total, the 22-year-old Norwegian footballer scored 52 goals in 53 appearances for City and helped the team complete the treble: winning the Premier League, Champions League and winning the FA Cup.
Haaland moved to City last summer from Borussia Dortmund. For the first time in English Premier League history, the Norwegian won the Best Player and Best Young Player awards in the same season. Haaland set the record for most Premier League goals in a season with 36, beating Andy Cole and Alan Shearer’s record of 34 each, and was the 2022/23 Champions League top scorer with 12 goals in 11 games.
Manchester City beat Inter Milan 1-0 in the Champions League final in Istanbul on Saturday.
