Former Lokomotiv vice-president Yuri Belous told that his departure from the club had nothing to do with midfielder Oleg Ivanov’s failed move to the Wings of Soviets railway camp in 2011.
Ivanov, in an interview with , spoke about the failure of the transfer to Lokomotiv. Smorodskaya vetoed his decision in 2011. Ivanov, in his own words, was supposed to leave as a free agent, but “someone in the club” decided otherwise, after which he was fired.
– It seems that Ivanov alluded to you in his own words, because the refusal of his transfer coincided with your departure from Lokomotiv without a clear explanation of the reason. Can you tell us about the situation on your side?
– The story is simple: Ivanov’s agents asked for big commissions, and Smorodskaya closed this case. And she did the right thing. In this situation, I have nothing to do with it, it is the case of the agents, and everything was closed on that.
– Your departure from the club is not linked to the stories around the transfer of Ivanov?
“Absolutely not, my leaving has nothing to do with it,” Whitebeard told .
On December 30, 2010, Ivanov’s transfer was announced on Lokomotiv’s official website. On January 12, 2011, Smorodskaya vetoed this transfer, and Belous himself left the position of vice-president of the club the day before.
