This Wednesday, the 14th, the Corinthians learned of the punishment suffered on account of the homophobic chants sung in the classic against the São Pauloat Neo Quimica Arena. In determining the STJDthe club will lose a field man, forcing Timão to play one of their matches behind closed doors, for breaching article 243.

Despite the determination of the justice entity, Corinthians still has the right to file an appeal to try to reverse the result of the judgment. The reason for the punishment was the chants sung by all the stands at Neo Química Arena during the Majestoso. At the time, the referee stopped the match and messages were shot on the big screens in the Corinthian home.

Therefore, due to non-compliance with article 243, Corinthians will lose a home field in a match valid for the Brasileirão, if the punishment is maintained after the club appeals. In addition, Timão was also punished for the delay in resuming the game, as the players took longer than expected to get on the pitch.

Another article addressed in the determination of the STJD was 258, which refers to the ethical conduct of the team while its players are on the field. In this case, the lack of respect for the progress of the game and who was present in the match, which took place a month ago, on May 14, and ended in a 1-1 draw, was mentioned.
