Former head of the Russian Football Union (RFU) refereeing department Viktor Kashshai has been appointed technical director of the Austrian Football Union (ÖFB) refereeing department, according to the organisation’s website. .
Along with Kassai, György Ring has joined the ÖFB and will take on the position of Head of Video Assistance Referee (VAR).
— I am very happy to have the opportunity to work on the development of refereeing in Austria and to contribute to it. During the negotiations, I quickly realized that our objectives and our vision of the future coincided, we spoke the same language. My life is dedicated to refereeing – for 30 years I worked as a referee, the last three years as a manager. I know the issues we need to address, and together with the Ring, the federation and the judges, I am motivated to do so,” said Kashshai, 47.
The Hungarian specialist from January 9, 2020 to September 13, 2021 headed the arbitration department of the Russian Football Union. At the beginning of 2022, he headed the arbitration committee of the Bulgarian Football Union.
