Former Russian national team midfielder Igor Semchov believes that “Rostov” the next season of the Russian Premier League (RPL) will be able to compete for medals.
– I am sure that Karpin will be able to bring success to Rostov. If the backbone of the team remains, next season the guys will definitely be able to create some competition and compete for the top five. I do not exclude that Rostov could win championship medals, Semshov told Metaratings.ru.
Last season, the Rostovites took fourth place in the WORLD RPL ranking. The team was also eliminated from the FONBET Cup of Russia at the stage of the first leg of the Chemin des Régions semi-finals, losing to eventual runners-up Krasnodar on penalties.
