Midfielder “Krasnodar » Magomed-Shapi Suleymanov in an interview with he spoke about a fight in the Israeli championship, after which he was suspended for 10 matches, and the impact of this incident on his future career.
According to Suleymanov, he does not consider himself the main culprit of what happened, but regrets that it could affect his career.
– Did the ten-match suspension received in May for a fight after the match against Maccabi (Haifa) affect the rest of your career at Hapoel Beer Sheva?
– I think so. I have already missed two games, eight have been postponed to next season, almost two months. I could only play in European competitions, but not all clubs accept this option, in the championship you also have to take the field. Sorry, but I don’t feel the main culprit. I wasn’t going to fight or beat anyone. On the replay, we see: I was the first to be hit in the back of the head, then the response continued.
– The one who hit you, how was he punished?
– I know they were going to disqualify him for 15 games.
– Were you lucky not to get involved in a fight at all?
— We were celebrating a goal scored in the last seconds, the whole team ran on the field. I see that a commotion begins, one of the rivals pushes my partner. I didn’t want to beat anyone, I didn’t start the first in my life. He approached to tell the instigator, “Stand back and don’t touch anyone”, but suddenly a blow to the back of the head followed. And I mixed: I thought of one, and I beat the other. He reacted instantly, slapped in response with his palm. It turned out that was not the case. On the same day, he apologized to this man, Dolev Khaziz, wrote to him after the game. He replied, “No problem.”
– In January, you had four disqualification matches for the slaughter of Eden Kartsev from Maccabi (Netanya). Did you also talk to him afterwards?
– Yes, I am not vindictive, I am always ready to stifle the conflict. In this match, Kartsev kicked me five or six times from behind in the legs, and before I flew towards him, he stepped on my foot and hit me with my elbow. The judge was silent, I answered. After the game, we talked calmly and in Russian – Kartsev’s parents are from Belarus. We met and shook hands.
– What did Hapoel head coach Elyaniv Barda say to you after the disqualification?
– The ever-supportive coach said: “It’s happening in Israel.” He wanted me to stay, but it wasn’t all up to him. Barda is a good coach, he played for the Israeli national team for a long time and Genk, he was captain of the Belgian team. Knows football, understands and protects football players. A cool man, I wish him only the best,” Suleimanov said in an interview with .
Suleymanov, 23, played 22 games last season in the Israeli league, scoring four goals and providing four assists. The rental contract of the Russian with Hapoel expires on June 30, the rights to it belong to Krasnodar.
