The defender scored his debut goal for the national team of Ukraine
Defender Ukrainian national team Ilya Zabarny shared his emotions after the match with the national team North Macedonia (3:2), in which he scored his debut goal.
“This goal for me is, of course, happiness. I scored the first goal for the national team. This is a very important goal for me personally and for the country. I thank my family and everyone for their support, and we continue to do everything for the good of Ukraine.”
“Did we believe that it was possible to win after the first half? Yes, of course, I believed that everything could be changed. This is a game – football, everything can happen here. We left after the break with a completely different mood. We made an analysis of our mistakes, began to play better, went out and won.”
“I think everyone felt that the second half would be different. Everyone understood that we cannot lose and give them points. There was no other way out. The second half was key. We knew that we had no right to lose and went out to win.”
After beating North Macedonia, the Blue-Yellows have picked up three points and are fourth in Group C of the UEFA Euro 2024 qualifiers. England lead the way with their third win in qualifying, defeating Malta 4-0.
