Winger felt pain in the calf muscle
Winger Mikhail Mudrik runs the risk of missing out European Youth Championship 2023 due to a calf injury. This was told by the head coach of the national team of Ukraine Sergey Rebrov after the match with Malta (1:0) in the qualification for Euro 2024.
“Mikhail Mudrik’s participation in Euro U-21 is questionable. He felt pain in the calf muscle and was not ready to play today,” Rebrov said.
Mikhail had a match with Malta on the bench. Mudrik has been a starter in previous Euro 2024 qualifiers against North Macedonia and England, as well as in a test match against Germany.
The winger was included in the squad for the youth team for the European Championship 2023. Earlier, Mudrik said that he definitely wants to compete at the youth championship.
The national team of Ukraine U-21 completed the training camp in Austria and arrived in Bucharest with an incomplete squad. The players of the national team will arrive at the location of Ruslan Rotan’s team on June 20. Already on June 21, the blue-yellows will play with the Croatian youth team in the first round of the group stage of Euro 2023.
The Ukrainian national team U-21 got into group B at Euro 2023, where they will play with Romania, Croatia and Spain. The two best teams from each quartet will advance to the playoffs of the European Youth Championship. The tournament will run from June 21 to July 8.
