Zabarny: We understood that a goal is a matter of time. Scored and quietly finished the game

The defender noted that the game of the teams in the first half was affected by the heat

Defender of the national team of Ukraine Ilya Zabarny commented on the outcome of the match with Malta (1:0) in the qualification for European Championship 2024.

“Good opponent, tough match. In the first half it was hot, the sun was hot, and tiredness was felt somewhere. But everyone understood that it was very important to win today. And we did it.”

“This is a game, a missed penalty is part of it. We still had time, and I think everyone understood that a goal is only a matter of time. There was time, we brought it to the goal and calmly finished the game.

“Of course, it is very nice to see Ukrainian people in the stands. They warmly support you, charge you. Very happy to see it.”

“We need to get some rest. Personally, I had a severe injury. Now I’ve played enough – and I need to rest a little, recover, prepare for a difficult season. Because sometimes damage worries.”

“I will support the youth. I’m sorry I won’t go. I understand that if I leave, I will play many matches there and immediately after that I will go to the training camp – it will be a very difficult season for me, after an injury it is very difficult. I’m afraid I’ll lose myself in a couple of months. Therefore, he must recover and help the club and the national team with renewed vigor.”

The Ukrainian national team scored six points and climbed to second place in group C of qualification for Euro 2024. England remains in first place, having won all three of their matches in the current selection.

The next match of the qualifying round for the European Championship-2024, the Ukrainian team will play with the British. Next, the blue-yellows will meet with Italy. Both fights will take place in September.
