Ukraine starts at the Youth Euro with a game against Croatia
Midfielder Georgy Sudakov commented on the upcoming entry of the Ukrainian U-21 team at the European Youth Championship.
“I hope that now we will arrive [в сборную] and we will talk, they will ask us how we feel, we will talk with the coaching staff and decide something. Of course, to play every other day – there has never been such a practice, especially since I played three matches of 90 minutes each. I think it will be up to me and the coaching staff to decide together what we can do.”
“Yes, all matches are fundamental, but Croatia is Croatia. We see both the national team and the youth team that they are very talented players with a good level. Of course, it will be an interesting game. I can’t comment on this match, because I haven’t analyzed this team yet, so I hope that when I arrive and join the national team, I will start doing it.”
“In the youth team, I played on the left in attack in the tenth position. Sergei Stanislavovich [Реброва] I played more support, maybe drawn in the top ten. Slightly different schemes and different requirements, so it’s hard to compare something, but it’s very interesting with both. As I said, I’m preparing for the next matches.”
Sudakov arrived at the location of Ruslan Rotan’s team today. Together with the midfielder, Anatoly Trubin, Mikhail Mudrik and Vladislav Vanat joined the youth team.
The Ukrainian national team U-21 got into group B at Euro 2023, where they will play with Romania, Croatia and Spain. The two best teams from each quartet will advance to the playoffs of the European Youth Championship.
The tournament for the blue-yellows will start on June 21 with a game against Croatia. The match with Romania will take place on June 24, and with Spain on June 27. All Group B matches will be held in Bucharest (Romania).
Euro 2023 will take place from 21 June to 8 July. Note that the top three teams of the youth Euro 2023 (except France and England) will receive tickets to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
