Carrasco says Belgian national team disappointed with Courtois move

Midfielder Belgium Yannick Carrasco spoke about the conflict of the national team goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois with national team head coach Domenico Tedesco.

According to Tedesco, Courtois was unhappy not to have been named team captain in the absence of injured midfielder Kevin de Bruyne. The Belgians in Saturday’s match of the European Championship 2024 qualifying tournament against the Austrian national team (1:1) brought Romelu Lukaku onto the pitch with the captain’s armband.

Courtois left the Belgian national team slot and later said that he left the team due to knee problems, and the coach’s assessment is not true.

We are disappointed with Courtois’ reaction. After all, he is part of the team. The dressing is only a detail. You have to prove that you are a leader and a captain with your own personality. He decided to leave. Whether he had any issues or not, we don’t know. But one of the reasons he left was the captaincy,” Carrasco said.
