Now the list includes 227 people
Winger Chelsea Mikhail Mudrik and defender of Bournemouth Ilya Zabarny entered the updated list of athletes who did not return to the country after traveling abroad during a full-scale war with Russia.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports first published such a list in May. As of June 21, the list of violating athletes included 227 people instead of 236.
Mudryk and Zabarny were at the disposal of the Ukrainian national team in June during the qualifying matches for Euro 2024 with North Macedonia and Malta. Ilya scored a debut goal for the national team, and Mikhail scored two assists in a duel with the Macedonians.
Recall that the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine allowed athletes to cross the border to participate in international competitions in agreement with the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. However, a number of athletes violated their obligations to temporarily return to Ukraine.
Early in the morning of February 24, 2022, Russia launched rocket and air strikes on most Ukrainian cities, and then launched a full-scale military invasion. The war against Russia has been going on for 484 days.
